A group of local experts, including those from CCRFR, discussed improvements to flood-prone areas in Hampton Roads with U.S. Rep. Robert C. “Bobby” Scott on May 15.
Scott was in the Southeast Community park off of 16th Street and Walnut Avenue to informally introduce the Building Up Infrastructure to Limit Disasters through Resilience Act, which would dole out a total $1 billion in competitive grants to cities that create plans to prevent flood and storm damage. The grant program would be under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
