MIT Solve Challenge Finalist has ODU Connection
MIT Solve finalists have been announced and Old Dominion University and CCRFR family are included. The finalists include Green Stream Technologies where Jim Gray (President and CEO of Green Stream Technologies) who is an ODU alumnus, Larry Atkinson (Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography at ODU and CCRFR affiliate), Tal Ezer (Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography at ODU) and ODU undergraduate student intern Muhammad Ravid have been working to develop flood monitoring sensors and also analyze data coming from these sensors. "The goal of the project is to develop flood monitoring and warning systems based on a network of low-cost water level sensors..These sensors cost a fraction of the cost of high-end sensors deployed by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and USGS (U.S. Geological Survey), so many more sensors can be installed over flood-prone streets."
