The Floodplain Ordinance Implementation Training will provide a platform to facilitate and promote interactive discussion on administering the State of Virginia’s model ordinance to ensure the adopted floodplain management ordinance and enforcement procedures meet all the NFIP minimum requirements.

The training will include discussion on a range of topics including:

• ordinance authorization
• compliance
• floodplain administrator responsibilities
• substantial damage/improvement
• establishment of flood zone districts
• permit applications,
• and more

The training will help in evaluating existing and developing new floodplain management procedures. The course is intended for code officials, floodplain managers, planning and zoning officials with a strong working knowledge of floodplain requirements or who are in need of establishing new administrative practices.
