Virginia Floodplain Program- COURSE ANNOUNCEMENT

Course Title: L0284 – Advanced Floodplain Management Concepts III
Course Location: Slover Library, 235 E Plume St., Norfolk, VA 23510; Flex Meeting Room 640 on May 14, Room 650 on May 15, and Room 640 on May 16 & 17.

This advanced floodplain management course is a dynamic and interactive instruction that covers the following five topics in detail: floodway standards (1 day), disconnects between NFIP regulations and insurance (1 day), common non-compliance issues (1/2 day), digital flood insurance rate maps (DFIRMs) (1/2 day), substantial improvement/substantial damage (1 day). Each topic is designed to be discussed and reviewed in greater detail than the basic course. Developed and real-life scenarios will be examined and activities will be conducted in each section to make sure participants not only understand the rules and regulations but also why they are in place and how to apply them in the particular topic areas.
