Help the Elizabeth River Project place sand behind the 750 oyster castles places earlier this month at the Lafayette River’s Knitting Mill Creek in Norfolk. The oyster castles will provide vital habitat and break up wave energy. The sand you will wheelbarrow in will serve as the substrate for wetland grasses to be planted this spring.

ATTIRE: Please bring gloves and wear shoes that can get wet & muddy. Waders or knee boots ideal if you have them. They’ll have tools and water, but please bring your own lunch (if applicable).

AGE: This will be hard work; so they recommend adults or young adults – not young children for this project.

RSVP REQUIRED: RSVP to Joe Rieger, jrieger@elizabethriver.org or call 757-399-7487
